In what is turning into a heated rivalry, St. Joe’s (8-3) fell to Immaculate Conception of Revere (10-1) in a back-and-forth affair that wasn’t decided until the waning seconds. Despite jumping out to an early lead, St. Joe’s substandard free-throw shooting and an inordinate amount of missed layups proved too much to overcome. With the Middlesex Catholic Elementary School League playoffs on the horizon (February 13th), both teams should be a handful for any playoff opponent. |

The good news is St. Joe’s displayed a lethal fast-break passing attack spearheaded by team leader Sebastian Allien (4 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, 6 rebounds), Mr. Reliable Jack Albanese (7 points, 4 rebounds), standout guard Gianfranco Colella (4 points, 4 assists, 3 steals) and a hustling Patrick Kelly (6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks). Also providing a much needed spark for their team were Mr. Consistency Cameron Doyle (5 points, 3 rebounds), Shawn Maloney (2 points, 2 steals, 3 rebounds) and power forward Michael Doyle (2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks). The game remained a see-saw affair right up until the final minute with Immaculate Conception decisively winning the battle of free-throw shooting.
St. Joe’s play their final home game of the season against the Chevrus School on Thursday, January 30, at 4:30 PM.
